Profile

The laboratory for power electronics and drive systems has a large number of power semiconductors, measuring devices, rectifiers and inverters, as well as frequency converters. This makes it easy to carry out calculations and measurements. The available frequency converters and drive systems enable the precise investigation of industrial applications. A dedicated machine set enables the simulation of complex systems.

Calculations and simulations are carried out using PC-supported software. The software packages consist of self-developed programs and standard software. Computer workstations are available to enable direct processing of the measured values.


This gives our students the opportunity to carry out simulations based on programming in the Delphi language and to compare the results directly with measurements.

  • Electronic measuring devices for harmonic currents, voltages and power
  • High-performance laboratory power supply with special voltage sources such as battery, variable DC voltage, three-phase current with low harmonic content and variable frequency
  • Power converter modules and control devices for setting up all common power converter circuits
  • Mobile machine sets with all common machine types (3-5 kW)
  • Power converter model (15 kW) for setting up mains-controlled power converter circuits
  • Machine test bench (15 kW) with torque measuring device and quick-change machine device
  • Networked PC pool with Internet connection, software for word processing, graphics and drawing creation, simulation, PCB layout and programming
