The laboratory for electrical energy management forms the Business Studies part of the Bachelor's study program in Energy Management and also contributes to the energy management background in the Master's program in Energy Systems. Here you have the opportunity to approach industry problems from a Business Studies perspective.

In the third semester, a case study in the context of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is on the agenda. The ERP system SAP S/4HANA® is used for this. The case studies take place in a demonstration system that includes the model company Global Bike Inc.

In addition to the energy management lecture, practicals are carried out with the BelVis ® energy data management system from Kisters. The aim is, on the one hand, to understand important interrelationships in modern energy management and, on the other hand, to become familiar with software solutions for this. In addition, more complex dynamic profitability calculations are created using Excel.

In the practical courses in the fourth and fifth semesters, students deepen their application and software skills using further case studies. For example, the optimization of system control and the creation of load forecasts are considered. The optimization and load forecasting applications from Kisters are used for this purpose. Load profile analyses are carried out with MatLab, among others. Structuring of projects and scheduling of projects against an introduction to project management tools.

In the Master's course Decentralized Energy Systems, Business Studies/technical studies on decentralized energy supply using the example of modern district concepts are carried out together with the Laboratory for Renewable Energies. carried out. Here too, standard software, TOP Energy from GFAI, is used for the practical part.

The topics mentioned above and others from the Business Studies context of energy use and energy supply can be explored in greater depth as part of student projects and theses at both Bachelor's and Master's level.
