Fachhochschule Dortmund successfully applied for the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) in May 2020 and was officially awarded it by the EU Commission at the end of February 2021.
This created the conditions for further participation in the funding programs of the new Erasmus program generation 2021-27.
With the ECHE 2021-2027, the university undertakes to comply with the quality standards and obligations of the Erasmus+ program. The principles of the ECHE in the new program generation include

- Anti-discrimination strategies
- Sustainability ("Green Erasmus")
- Digitalization ("Erasmus Without Paper")
- Automatic mutual recognition
