Erasmus+ BIP (Blended Intensive Program)

Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs) are an innovation in the Erasmus+ program generation (2021 - 2027). They are intended to promote innovative learning and teaching methods and create new ways of international cooperation. It always involves the mobility of a group.
Fachhochschule Dortmund can take on either the coordinating, receiving or sending role within the framework of the BIP.

As part of a BIP, teachers and students can take part in a short physical group mobility combined with a virtual component. The mandatory requirements are

• the duration of the physical phase is at least 5, maximum 30 days;
• the physical phase takes place at the same time and in the same place for all participants;
• the duration of the virtual phase is not specified;
• the virtual learning phase is compulsory and can take place before or after the physical mobility;
• at least three Erasmus+ partner universities from three different program countries must participate
• at least 3 ECTS must be awarded, ideally embedded in the curricula;
• at least 15 mobile participants (e.g. 8 from each participating university) must take part;
  Attention! As the participants at the host university do not change their location or country, they do not count towards the 15 mobile participants that are mandatory within a BIP!
• all three universities must have an inter-institutional agreement at the time of the BIP (e.g. IIA with blended mobility option)
• the (Erasmus+) funding of the participants from the partner universities is the responsibility of the sending university

The coordinating university takes on the overall coordination, application and administration for a BIP and receives OS funds (organizational funds) for this. In most cases, it is also the host university.

• The OS funds amount to between €6,000 for 15 participants and €8,000 for a maximum of 20 participants (capped). A sum of €1,000 remains at central level for administration, the rest of the money is passed on to the faculty.
• If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the coordination of the BIP is not eligible for funding
• The OS funds can be used for the initiation, development, implementation and general administration of the BIP. Furthermore, the funds support the management of the program. They can be used, for example, for personnel costs (e.g. student assistants), teaching materials and printing costs, room rental, public relations, hospitality (pro rata and in accordance with the university's hospitality policy), translations, activities, etc.
• The OS funds may not be used to finance BIP mobilities or to top up individual support.
• The coordinating project management is responsible for the content and organizational implementation (e.g. communication with partner universities, concrete planning of teaching content, organization and implementation of the virtual/physical part of the program, administration of decentralized funding, documentation relevant to studies) of the BIP.
• The International Office can provide advice and support in the administration of the BIP (provision of funding, documentation relevant to reporting, conclusion/extension of cooperation agreements) and submits the application to the DAAD

The deadline for reporting a planned BIP is January 31 of each year (for the following academic year) to the International Office using the form below. Please note that applications are not possible in the current academic year.

As a receiving university, the following points must be observed:

• Incoming mobilities are generally selected at the sending institution
• The sending institution is responsible for the financial support of incoming mobilities
• Incoming students register via the mobility portal
• The learning agreement is signed by the program officer or, in consultation, by the responsible project coordinator
• The project coordinator provides a welcome letter with sufficient information on travel, accommodation options and explanations on the organization of physical mobility
• It is mandatory to keep a list of participants
• The student's stay must be formally confirmed at the end

As the sending university, the faculty selects the students according to a transparent procedure. The International Office or the project manager nominates the students to the host institution according to the usual procedure.

• Participating students receive the following funding rates:

Day 1-14: 79€/day

Day 15-30: 56€/day

• An additional travel allowance is paid according to the following table:

• In addition, each traveling student is entitled to a flat-rate travel day and additional travel days for green travel according to the distance calculator (up to 4 travel days)
• Participants with fewer opportunities (disability, chronic illness, participation with a child) can receive a one-off €100
• Teachers also receive the usual daily rate plus travel costs depending on the distance (see Erasmus+ for teaching)

Student and teaching staff mobilities of a BIP are processed as usual via the Mobility Online Portal.

The deadline for reporting to the International Office is January 31st of each year for the following academic year and is done using the form below.
