International

International experience is becoming increasingly important in a globally networked world and, in architecture in particular, discourse is conducted globally and developments are advanced through international cooperation and exchange.

The eight-semester Bachelor's degree program at the Faculty of Architecture therefore enables students to spend a semester/year abroad or do an internship (abroad). In the new Bachelor's degree regulations from 2014, this is even better integrated into the curriculum through a mobility window in the 5th semester. We recommend a stay abroad from the 5th semester onwards.

The international exchange of teaching staff and other groups of employees is also important to us in order to get to know new perspectives and initiate constructive change and cooperation processes.

For longer stays abroad, it is advisable to start planning one to one and a half years before the stay in order to make a well-founded choice in terms of content, to use all options for financial support and to be able to make all necessary arrangements with the faculty, the International Office of the UAS and, if necessary, the BAFÖG office or for language certificates.

In addition to studying abroad and doing an internship abroad, there are other ways to gain international experience during your studies. Examples include the following formats:

  • Summer / Spring / Winter Schools
  • Theses abroad
  • Language courses / programs abroad
  • Graduate programs that enable internships after graduation or between BA and MA, for example
  • Conference visits
  • excursions
