Step 1: Registration at the Graduate Center
Registration takes about 10 minutes and you will be asked to provide both personal and promotion-related data. As soon as you have registered, you can request to receive up-to-date information about activities at the doctoral college. You can register with the Graduate Center as soon as you have been accepted for supervision at Fachhochschule Dortmund.

(Either) Step 2: Enrollment for the cooperative doctorate
Cooperative doctoral candidates can optionally enrol at Fachhochschule Dortmund if they are co-supervised by a professor at Fachhochschule Dortmund and have found a supervisor at a university. As part of the doctoral funding program, enrollment at Fachhochschule Dortmund is mandatory for the entire funding period.
There are 2 options:
1) Enrolled as a main student at a university in Germany ⇒ Secondary student at Fachhochschule Dortmund
- No semester fees at Fachhochschule Dortmund
- Documents to be provided: Proof of cooperative doctorate & proof of enrollment at the university
2) Not enrolled as a main student at a university in Germany ⇒ Main student at Fachhochschule Dortmund
- Standard semester fees at the Fachhochschule Dortmund
- Documents to be provided: Proof of cooperative doctorate, self-declaration that you are not enrolled at a university and proof of payment of semester fees

Once you have enrolled, you will receive your personal Fachhochschule Dortmund ID, which you can use to book continuing education courses and use the Fachhochschule Dortmund infrastructure (library, career service, etc.) as part of your doctoral project.

If you wish to pursue a doctorate under the independent doctoral degree program of the Graduate Center NRW, you must also enroll at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, which you can do here(Opens in a new tab) .
