Kickstart funding: Up to 7,500 euros for your idea

Do you have an innovative idea but don't know how to implement and develop it? Then apply for up to 7,500 euros in Kickstart funding.

The Kickstart funding program supports UAS members (individuals and teams) for a period of up to six months with funding of up to 7,500 euros. This can be used to finance special parts and special advice required to implement the idea. The start-up service provides you with close support.

Kickstart supports the testing of initial innovative research ideas in the pre-start-up phase. The aim is to try out things in an uncomplicated way that could lead to a start-up in the future.

Kickstart funding is awarded as follows:

  1. Contact Christina Schönbergerchristina.schoenbergerfh-dortmundde  and attend a mandatory initial meeting in person.
  2. Submission of the idea outline and the planned use of funds using the application form.
  3. Review and evaluation of the applications by a jury of at least three people.
  4. Recommendation for funding to funding bodies (VDI and BMBF) from a specified number of points. If the jury assessment is not sufficient to be recommended directly for funding, a new (improved/adapted) application with the same idea may be possible.
  5. After being accepted, the teams/individuals have six months to develop their prototype. During this time, they are supported by the start-up service and have regular progress meetings. The project must be completed within this period.
