The world finals of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) will be held at Messe Dortmund this year from November 17 to 19, 2022, offering the chance to be there to experience the thrill of robotics live. The Faculty of Computer Science and the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains (IDiAL) at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts will use the event to present themselves with exhibits at an information stand (stand 11) and offer two workshops: "Robotics/AI and Ethics(Opens in a new tab) " and "Robots for Teaching(Opens in a new tab) ".
The best teams from 73 countries will present themselves and their robotics ideas, their technical understanding and their programming skills to 3,000 expected international guests. Under the season's theme of "MY ROBOT MY FRIEND", the participants aged 8 to 19 will deal with technical and digital issues that could not be more topical. After all, robots will play an increasingly important role in everyday professional and private life.
Future location Dortmund

We have been awarded the title of 'European Capital of Innovation' for our success as a city of science involving the urban community and the vision of a great city of neighbors," says Lord Mayor Thomas Westphal. "The final of the WRO is in very good hands at the future location of Dortmund. In addition to our hospitality, we have a lively start-up scene here, strong research expertise, develop individual software and hardware and conduct research into artificial intelligence."
A team from Dortmund - the "HHG DuckBots" from Heinrich-Heine Gymnasium - has also qualified for the WRO world final and will be taking part. "I wish the team and of course all the others every success, lots of fun in Dortmund and good luck," said the Lord Mayor.
Attractive supporting program
In addition to the exciting insight into the "World Robot Olympiad", visitors can expect an attractive supporting program with a market of opportunities and exciting hands-on activities, workshops and lectures on the topic of robotics and its use in society as well as detailed guided tours of the competition.
Admission is free and all interested parties are welcome.
