Dr. Alexandra Apfelbaum (*1977) has been working as a freelance art and architectural historian in her own office since 2009. From 2018 to 2022, she held the deputy professorship for the history and theory of architecture and the city at Fachhochschule Dortmund. She is also co-founder and chairwoman of the Ruhrmoderne initiative, which is committed to the preservation and continued use of post-war architecture in the Ruhr region. Her research focuses on the interfaces between architecture and art in the second half of the 20th century with a focus on North Rhine-Westphalia and the post-war period. She has curated several exhibitions and published numerous publications on artists and architects and their work, including Josef Paul Kleihues, Bruno Lambart and Friedrich Gräsel.
