Information
If the female perspective is missing from data collection, what impact does this have on different areas of life in a world that is largely based on data?
Nicole Wilke, a photography and film student at Fachhochschule Dortmund, is making this social problem visible: light drawings from her final project on the "Gender Data Gap" can be seen as an exhibition in the Nordstadtgalerie. Admission is free.
In order to stimulate public discourse, Nicole Wilke provides a clearer picture of the current position of women in our society and highlights the need for action to bring about change - for example in medical research, the design of public spaces or the safety design of cars.
The vernissage of the exhibition "Mind the Gap", accompanied by the Equal Opportunities Office of Fachhochschule Dortmund, begins on Wednesday, September 27, at 7 pm. On display are the light drawings captured in photographs together with accompanying texts. There will also be an earlier cinematic work drawn with light by Nicole Wilke and the students Mandy Heller and Lars Frühling as well as a documentation of the history of the development of the light drawing tool "Lunic Pixel Painter".
Anyone who would like to try out this tool for themselves can register for a free workshop (Monday, October 2, from 6 p.m.) by emailing nordstadtgaleriefh-dortmundde.
A second date for the exhibition with the presence of Nicole Wilke is on Saturday, September 30, from 2 to 6 pm. Further content is available in the virtual GALERI3D(Opens in a new tab) .
