Information
On the benzene tower at the Hansa coking plant, the storyLab kiU at the Fachhochschule Dortmund brings the big questions of our time to life—as a spectacular digital 3D projection.
In this roughly ten-minute mapping, storyLab kiU takes up selected questions from past mapping projects and places them in the context of current social issues. “What is human?”, “What is Europe?”, “What’s beyond that wall?” and “What makes Dortmund special?” are the titles of the original mapping projects that storyLab kiU developed for the Museum Nights of past years and presented at the Dortmunder U. They serve as the thematic starting points for the new production.
The Benzol Tower serves as both a projection surface and a resonant space: it poses questions, connects perspectives, and invites viewers to reflect on identity, borders, coexistence, and the future of the city.
The mapping is a collaboration with the City of Dortmund on the occasion of the “Festival of Arts, Tech, and Taste” from September 15 to 19. On each of these days, the mapping can be seen at 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.
