Smart robots you can program yourself - how we teach the Sphero Mini to think

Professor Dr. Sinje Teschler-Nunkesser, Solmaz Mjildi B.Sc. I Faculty of Computer Science

Have you ever wondered how robots know where to go or why they don't just roll against a wall? In this workshop you will have the opportunity to teach a small robot, the Sphero Mini, what it should do. We start with a short course training and get to know the mini robot. You will then take on the role of a programmer.

Using tablets and simple program commands, you will learn how to tell the Sphero Mini when to set off, how fast it should go or which direction it should take. Step by step, you will discover how computers and robots "think" and why clear instructions are so important.

In exciting tasks and small games, you can try out how programming works - without any previous knowledge. You will learn to think logically, be creative and find solutions together.
