Exhibition opening: Discrimination through institutional racism

Fast facts

Information

A project with young people from Hagen

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights). Nevertheless, this dignity is violated by many people every day through conscious or unconscious racism.

Racism is therefore not an abstract discourse. Racism takes place in people's everyday lives. It is often hidden and sometimes it is not even perceived as such by those who act in a racist manner and discriminate. While racism was long interpreted as individual misconduct in Germany, the debate has intensified considerably in recent years, drawing attention to the institutional dimensions of racism.
