The TalentScouts at Fachhochschule Dortmund and TU Dortmund University have been in action for around seven years: they find young talents in schools, mentor them and accompany them on their way to university or vocational training and beyond. A recent study has now confirmed the success of TalentScouting: the program has improved educational equality in university access by up to 70 percent and made advancement through education significantly easier.
The ten TalentScouts from Fachhochschule Dortmund and TU Dortmund University are currently working at a total of 44 secondary schools, mainly in Dortmund and the Unna district. They are currently supporting around 1,500 talented young people on their path to the future. In recent years, almost 4,500 pupils have benefited from their support. The scouts advise their talented students individually and open-endedly on how to organize their time after leaving school. The program is primarily aimed at young people who come from an environment that is not always able to provide optimal support when choosing a course of study or career. However, TalentScouting does not end when they leave school. Once talented young people have decided to study, the scouts also help them to start their studies and advise them on scholarships. Almost 150 talented students have already been awarded scholarships.
