Are you currently writing your doctoral thesis and having difficulty getting yourself together at home or motivating yourself alone? Or would you like to exchange ideas during your work with other doctoral students who are going through the same process as you? Then come to the writing club!
The writing club
The writing club was launched in 2023 and offers you the opportunity to take theoretical input with you once a month, to work on your project in a concentrated manner and to exchange ideas with others. We invite not only all doctoral candidates who are in the writing phase of their doctoral thesis, but also all those who are working on their exposé, a paper, a third-party funding application or another writing project.
The writing club usually begins with a short talk on various topics. In the past, topics such as "ChatGPT", "Abstract" or "Third-party funding application" have been covered. Participants listen for the first 15 minutes and then have the opportunity to ask our experts individual questions. We then move on to an independent work phase in which all participants can devote themselves to their own writing projects or discuss progress and current difficulties. Of course, refreshments will also be provided!
The writing club as a path to the final certificate
Recently, you can also have your participation in the writing club credited towards your final certificate. A stamp card system has been introduced for this purpose. You can have a field stamped on your stamp card for each time you take part in the writing club. Three participations count as half a workshop. Six participations in the writing club can even replace a whole workshop. Regular participation in the writing club is therefore a good way to complete the workshops you have already attended!
The writing club takes place every last Wednesday of the month from 16:00 to 18:00 in presence at EFS 38b. The exact meeting point will be communicated shortly beforehand by e-mail with the participants. The dates and topics for the planned events can be found here(Opens in a new tab) .
