On May 19, 2026, the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF(Opens in a new tab) visited two seminars of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies(Opens in a new tab) via video conference to present and discuss a short feature film.
Presentation of final film
Director Yann Rehberg and producer Justus Hagemann presented their graduation film "Vom Bösen Blick", which is set in a youth center in a Berlin hotspot neighborhood, begins as an everyday study of closeness and trust and then takes a dramatic turn. "For all their formal ambition, films like 'Vom bösen Blick' are not a self-referential art exercise, but rather use the collective art form of film to position themselves in a concrete social situation: film makes things visible, whereby the viewers are always co-producers," explained Dr. Donata Haag(Opens in a new tab) from the Babelsberg Film University.
Conversation with students
The discussion with the students took place as a pilot project as part of the research focus "Impact Filmmaking" at the Film University, which deals with the question of how films can have a social impact.
In the seminar 'Teamwork and Professionalism' with Marie-Luise Bergmann(Opens in a new tab) and in the seminar 'Contested Terms' with Prof. Dr. Stefanie Rosenmüller(Opens in a new tab) , both in the Bachelor of Social Work, this film was received very lively and discussed with great enthusiasm on the main topics of 'Trust and Shame' and 'Professionalism': "We were able to recognize a lot of practical problems!"
A successful experiment in which two Film University graduates and students from the faculty were able to exchange ideas.
