Orange-utan becomes the new mascot of Fachhochschule Dortmund

Orange-utans are clever animals that play an important role in the forest ecosystem. Every day they build a new nest in the trees to sleep in, which emphasizes their forward drive, curiosity and inquiring mind. Orange-utans also feed almost exclusively on plants. They therefore contribute to a sustainable world.

With regard to the further internationalization of the UAS, the orange-utan, with its origins in Sumatra, builds a bridge to Asia. However, orange-utans are threatened with extinction - the UAS would like to draw attention to this with its new mascot and make a contribution to protecting the apes.

In future, the orange udan will accompany all public events at Fachhochschule Dortmund as a mascot. In order to be able to address him at such events and clearly name him in captions, one thing is still missing: a suitable name. And all students and employees of the university can help with this. Name suggestions for the FH Orange Utan will be collected until April 15, 2023. They can be submitted via the Fachhochschule Dortmund's Instagram channel(Opens in a new tab) .

A naming committee will then decide on the five best suggestions. A vote among all students and employees will then decide on the final name of the animal mascot.
