Cooperation project with Australian universities

Published

School social work is currently experiencing a real boom in German schools: Social education professionals are a strong pillar in reducing social inequalities and barriers that prevent successful learning. Prof. Dr. Nicole Tigges has established herself as an expert in the field of school social work and has brought the topic into focus with lectures, publications and the organization of a national congress.

Prof. Tigges is currently looking to interest schools in Australia in this option. Building on existing contacts from her time as a short-term lecturer in Australia, she is working intensively with a research team from universities in Armidale and Sydney (New South Wales) to establish new structures for cooperation. A research project, student exchanges and research and teaching visits by lecturers in Australia and Germany are being planned. A student group from Fachhochschule Dortmund has already been in Armidale as part of a cooperation that has existed since 2012. A digital block seminar with 30 Australian and German students was very successful in the summer semester of 2022 - another will now start in the winter semester. Study trips to Australia are planned for the coming year.
