Fachhochschule Dortmund has been a partner of the Juicy Beats festival in Dortmund's Westfalenpark for eleven years. After being canceled twice due to the pandemic, the music event was able to take place again on Friday and Saturday (July 29 and 30, 2022). Several tens of thousands of people attended - and Fachhochschule Dortmund was once again involved.
At the Orange Electro stage, the beach volleyball courts of Westfalenpark were transformed into an impressive sandy beach. With a sea of orange parasols and sun loungers, Fachhochschule Dortmund provided a special flair and popular shady spots in the bright sunshine.
Sunglasses and slush ice
Sunglasses and water ice were available at the university's HY-Oldtimer. The coveted Fachhochschule Dortmund sunglasses were visible throughout the festival grounds - and were also a popular accessory with security and police.
For the first time, the FH team also had a slush ice machine on board the cult car. The semi-frozen water with orange syrup was so popular that small queues formed at the HY time and again. A good opportunity for the numerous helpers, including those from Fachhochschule Dortmund's AStA, to talk to festival visitors. Of course, there was also information about Bachelor's and Master's study programs at the university.
Music deep into the night
The festival got off to a musical start on the Orange stage on Friday with Dortmund DJ "Ante Perry", newcomer "Kyndra Gray" and the Berlin band "il Civetto". People danced in silence until late into the night. "Superkool" and "MLM" played at the silent disco with headphones.
Saturday was opened by the integrative Dortmund band "Tanzorchester Paschulke". True to the Ruhr area motto "What doesn't fit is made to fit", the ensemble draws on a wide variety of styles and cultures. The fun that the band had that day quickly spread to the audience in front of the stage.
