"The Time After..." - A performative teaching and learning research project about German-Mongolian visions of the future in times of climate change

Fast facts

Information

As part of the DAAD-funded summer school, the metropolis of Ulan Bator became a playing field for questions about the future in 2022 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christoph Lutz-Scheurle (Fachhochschule Dortmund) and in cooperation with the Mongolian National University of Arts and Culture (MNUAC) in Ulan Bator, the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the NGO Urban Nomads // Nomad Citizen:

What kind of future do we want to live in? Which utopias (still) seem desirable and which have become obsolete?

The future lab "The Time After..." used artistic research as a method of conveying theory and thus followed the wish of the Mongolian participants to focus on utopias in order to explore the potential of the future. In the lecture, Prof. Lutz-Scheurle will explain the main initial questions of the project and provide insight into its realization, which was primarily an artistic hybrid format between theater and ethnographic research and was implemented as an experimental performance format (audio walk).

He will be joined in conversation by the following other project participants:

  • Batchuluun Davaa (Head of the Department of Speech Education at the Theater Faculty of the Mongolian National University of Arts and Culture)
  • Amar Erdenebileg (film director, lecturer and technical supervisor at the theater faculty of the Mongolian National University of Arts and Culture)
  • Corinna Bethge (Artistic Director Urban Nomads // Nomad Citizens NGO)

Bayarmaa Munkhbayar (Artistic Director Urban Nomads // Nomad Citizens NGO) will translate the Mongolian colleagues.

The event is part of this year's International Week at Fachhochschule Dortmund(Opens in a new tab) .

All interested parties are cordially invited to participate!
