Advantages of Video as a Tool for Knowledge Transfer
Learning with videos? Many students at Fachhochschule Dortmund are already doing just that—at least in informal settings: they use videos to learn how to make pizza dough, how new software tools work, or which pruning shears are the best. Teens and young adults love using freely available videos for tutoring or exam prep. These everyday examples show that, for certain purposes, videos aren’t just practical—they’re a real help with learning and, at times, even better than written text.
Here are some of the benefits of instructional videos:
For Lecturers
For students
More Freedom
More time for interaction
Video Formats for Teaching
Would you like to create a video yourself for your lecture, seminar, or even a webinar? Great! The more specific you are about the direction you want to take, the better. We’d be happy to help. It’s important to know in advance: The various formats of educational videos can differ significantly in terms of the resources required (time, expertise, technology). The degree of instructional focus also varies—not every video is meant to explain something; sometimes the focus is simply on the demonstrative nature of the video.
We’ll actively provide counseling and support—but we can’t take over the entire production process for you (after all, you’re the experts on your own instructional content).
