Digital accessibility in studying & teaching

The "Digital Accessibility in Studies and Teaching" department offers study-related support for students with disabilities. It provides working materials with assistive technologies and ensures that materials are converted into a form required by students.

The workspace and resource pool

The workroom and resource pool is equipped with several computer workstations. The computers are equipped with screen readers for speech output and the option of controlling a Braille display. The computers can be used via voice control and dictation software. In addition to the computer workstations, there are screen readers for enlarging study materials.

There are devices that can be lent out for short periods for exams or lectures, including a mobile screen reader and a laptop with a screen reader.

The implementation service

In the implementation service, study materials are converted into a new form according to the individual needs of the students, for example as an adaptation of non-digital texts in large print or Braille.

In this context, instructions, guidelines and training courses for university staff are also created in order to produce materials that are as accessible as possible right from the start. This is not only done with people with disabilities in mind, but also with regard to the variety of device types and technologies that can present the information.
