Lecture recordings, slidecasts, tutorial videos, or studio productions: Videos are more prevalent than ever in today’s teaching and learning environment. From a two-minute explanatory clip as an Open Educational Resource (OER) to a 30-minute recording, from videos shot with a webcam or smartphone to high-end productions—the range is vast. Given the ubiquity of moving images in our everyday media lives, it’s important to remember: A good video isn’t automatically a good instructional video.
This is where the Video Lab team comes in: The Media and Video Production department supports lecturers in designing and implementing audiovisual media for teaching. What is the video intended to achieve? Which format is best suited for this? How should learners continue their work after watching the video? These are some of the questions we should ask ourselves together with you in the context of educational video production.
Rental Equipment
We’d be delighted if you’d like to create your own videos for use in teaching and academic studies! While we don’t have an extensive equipment lending service, we’re happy to lend you a handful of devices on short notice for up to 14 days. For some of the equipment, a brief training session may be required, depending on the borrower’s prior experience.
