Internship abroad for FH students

Anyone can quickly and easily read up on rules of conduct for telephone conversations, business meals or receptions. It is an art, however, to recognize cultural influences on one's own and others' experiences and behaviour and to be able to transfer this understanding to new everyday situations.

Getting to know a foreign country and - even more importantly - being able to interact with other people from a different culture is a knock-out criterion, especially in internationally oriented companies. And there is no better way to demonstrate this important soft skill than by completing an internship abroad.

Of course, you should at least be proficient in English and/or already have a good knowledge of the language of the country you are doing your internship in. However, by spending several months abroad, you can significantly consolidate and expand your foreign language skills.

More and more students are studying abroad . Completing an internship abroad can therefore be a decisive competitive advantage over competitors.

Many personnel managers now take experience abroad for granted. An application without such experience abroad is often no longer considered for this reason alone.

A good way to get a job after your studies is to use the contacts you made during your internship abroad. If you have already made a positive contribution during the internship, you can send an application to the former internship company after completing your studies, in which you refer to your experience in the company. This often helps you to overcome at least the first hurdle and be invited to an interview.

You can do an internship at any time during your studies. In many degree programs there are compulsory internships abroad or a time slot is planned in the curriculum for this. In addition to these compulsory internships, it is always a good idea to complete a voluntary internship.

As a rule, mandatory internships in particular, which are completed at the end of your studies, are linked to an internship salary.
