Enrolment: Procedure and most important Information

After your arrival you will need to enroll for your study programme at the International Office of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts/ FH Dortmund.
Enrolment will take place at:

To ensure an easy and quick process please bring with you:
  • Your valid passport/EU-ID card
  • Proof of payment of our social contribution "Semesterbeitrag" for the current semester (for more information read the separate article about it here)
  • Health insurance certificate for enrolment/ EHIC card/ exemption from health insurance obligation* - more information on that topic can be found here.
    *In case you have a private health insurance in Germany or eventually from your home country - more information to that issue can be found on our website to health insurance system and possibilities.
  • Signed rental contract form the dormitory - if you are renting a room from Studierendenwerk Dortmund (or any other dormitory) via International Office 

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

Admission/enrolment forms will be given directly at the International Office during the office hours as written above. The only exception are Bachelor Students of the Business Faculty. They will receive the admission forms directly from the students of the FEP (Faculty Exchange Point - explanation see below). FEP will help you to fill in the forms before the enrolment. They will also make special group appointments for the enrolment and inform you about it via email - please check your emails regularly.

ODS and printing of your NRW Semetster Ticket ↓

After the enrollment you will receive your student access to the Online study services (ODS) (at the moment German only). This platform serves as access to all important administrational matters concerning your study and e.g. register for exams, register for courses of the Career Service, print your student ticket the NRW- Semesterticket, certificate of enrolment (Studienbescheinigung), Transcript of Records and more on your own.

ODS is open to you up to 6 months after you finished your stay at our university so that you can easily print the Transcript of Records from your home country.

FEP (Faculty Exchange Point), IMEP (International Master Exchange Point), Support Points, Buddies and International Coordinators ↓
  • Bachelor exchange students of the Faculty of Business will be provided with different information e.g. picking you up, dormitory address and room keys, buddies and admission forms by student assistants of the Faculty Exchange Points (FEP). You will receive regularly emails from FEP - for this reason please check them often. After the enrolment students will be further tutored by the Faculty Exchange Point FEP and buddies. Should you have further questions do not hesitate to contact them: fep.business-studies@fh-dortmund.de.

  • Master exchange students of the programmes: European Master in Project Management and Embedded Systems for Mechatronics will be provided with different information e.g. dormitory address and room keys, buddies and more by student assistants of the International Master Exchange Point (IMEP). You will receive regularly emails from IMEP - for this reason please check them often. After the enrolment students will be further tutored by the IMEP and eventually also by buddies. Should you have further questions do not hesitate to contact them: IMEP@fh-dortmund.de.

  • Exchange students coming to the Faculty of Design can also contact support service for design exchange students via: exchange.design@fh-dortmund.de. Our colleague from the International Office at the Faculty of Design, Ms. Ketz, will gladly advise you and try to get buddies for you as well.
    Please note: admission forms will be provided by the International Office during the office hours (Mo, Wed, Fri 9:30 - 12:30 h, Tue 13:00-16:00 h).

  • Exchange students coming to the Faculty of Architecture please contact our colleague, Ms. González, who will gladly support you and try to get buddies for you too.

All of the other exchange students will get further information via email from the International Office and be provided with an admission forms by the International Office during the office hours (Mo, Wed, Fri 9:30 - 12:30 h, Tue 13:00-16:00 h).
