Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The courses of study available in the mechanical engineering department offer a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, specializing in the fields of constructional and manufacturing engineering and machine, energy and environmental engineering, as well as the course of study of vehicle Engineering.  In addition, the department offers a wide range of Master's degrees in mechanical engineering.

Innovative products frequently call for new materials, development and production technologies. In line with these requirements, the profile of engineers trained in the constructional and manufacturing engineering course has changed. Product and process managers capable of working in networking specialist and methodical areas as well as in teams are increasingly being sought-after.

In machine, energy and environmental engineering, modern engineering activities are developed using machinery and equipment which require or transform energy. This also extends to include studies dealing with the transformation and use of regenerative energies. Studies in vehicle engineering, as an interdisciplinary course of study combine the foundations and fields of study of mechanical and electrical engineering as well as communications engineering.

The Bachelor's courses in mechanical engineering include an obligatory practical Semester.

The course of a Master's degree in mechanical engineering is offered to particularly qualified graduates of the Bachelor's degree as well as to external applicants with a 3-semester study phase which strengthens the core competencies in natural and engineering sciences and includes a review of the practical relevance of this discipline.
