Studying with Children

For many young parents the reconciliation of study and family is often a challenge with many seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It is not an easy task to reconcile studying, childcare and often securing one's livelihood. But there are a number of university-based and university –related counseling and care services available to support students with children.

Family Service of the FH Dortmund ↓

The Dortmund University of Applied Sciences (FH Dortmund) supports students with children to reconcile their study and family together. The Familienservice of FH Dortmund offers extensive advice on important organisational matters, study organisation, maternity protection for students, financial support options and childcare services for your child or children. There are special parent-children-areas at each location. Studying parents can also borrow special toy-boxes for their children if they need to bring them to the university or to the courses.

The "Kinderteller" is available for children up to the age of 10 and is valid in all cafeterias. To do this, you must register your child/children with your ODS and contact the Family Service to apply for the children's ID card "Kinderausweis" available for studying parents at the FH Dortmund. Of course, you will find more information at our Familienservice and on the page of the Studierendenwerks Dortmund.
