About the person
Moritz Rumpf is currently filling in the teaching area Digital Methods in Architecture at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. As an architect, educator and researcher he is a specialist in digital design and fabrication, parametric techniques as well as the realisation of complex geometries.
He did his doctorate on the role of digital simulation and optimization approaches in the architectural design process at the Department of Architecture at the University of Kassel, where he worked from 2013 to 2019 as a research assistant in the department for Structural Design of Prof. Manfred Grohmann. Moritz Rumpf studied architecture at the University of Kassel (Dipl.-Ing.) as well as the Städelschule Architecture Class in Frankfurt am Main (M.A.).
As an architect in the office LAVA - Laboratory for visionary architecture (Berlin) he has been working from 2019 till 2020 on ambitious national and international projects – from small scale structures to master planning. From 2009 till 2011 Moritz Rumpf worked for the architectural practice foundation 5+ architekten BDA in Kassel on various projects – school buildings, residential buildings, urban design as well as redevelopment – in all service phases.
