Give peace a chance

Solidarity with Ukraine: Project team supports

The war in Ukraine and its effect on the people in the country are of concern to Fachhochschule Dortmund students, university teachers and staff members alike. They have joined forces in the Team “Fachhochschule Dortmund helps Ukraine” to organize target-oriented help for those affected.

The project team also acts as a contact for prospective students from the affected regions who are looking for a study place at Fachhochschule Dortmund. Please contact fhdohilftfh-dortmundde , if you have any questions. The project team coordinates the requests, finds the appropriate experts and also helps with language barriers by working with volunteer translators.

With its cooperation partners, Fachhochschule Dortmund would like to boost the help in the region and invites them to also network with the Team "Fachhochschule Dortmund helps Ukraine". The project team serves here as a hub and can be reached via e-mail at ukrainefh-dortmundde  Offers of help can be directed specifically at prospective students or students from the affected regions. In addition, Fachhochschule Dortmund is in contact with local aid organizations, such as the associations "Grenzenlose Wärme" or "Train of Hope Dortmund", some of which originated at our University.

Statement of the Rector of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences on the war in Ukraine:

„The recent days have been deeply upsetting. We are worried about the people in Ukraine and about the well-being of our partners at the universities that we collaborate with on an academic level. We need a peaceful and free dialogue in the academic community – and above all, we need to live together peacefully and freely, not only in Europe, but everywhere in the world.

Fachhochschule Dortmund - University of Applied Sciences and Arts cooperates with the Kiyv National University of Construction and Architecture, the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, the West Ukrainian National University WUNU (Ternopil) and the Lviv Polytechnic National University. We are in contact with our partners and hope that they are safe and that they are doing well.

Our thoughts are also with our Ukrainian Erasmus students and colleagues here in Dortmund. You, dear students, have expressed the desire to stay in Dortmund. and we are currently working on extending your stay.

And I would also like to address our Russian students and assure you that you are of course still welcome at our University and that we also share your concerns about your family and friends.“

Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schwick
Rector of Fachhochschule Dortmund
