Information for Exchange Students for the degree courses International Business (B.A.) and International Business Management (B.A.)
FH Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts welcomes foreign students who want to come and study at the Faculty of Business Studies for one or two semesters.
The Faculty of Business Studies receives international students from all over the world. They usually come from partner institutions and follow a course of study agreed with their home institution. The so-called Double Degree Program is offered either in English or in German and comprises two semesters of studies as well as an internship.
In addition, for students from partner universities who would like to spend one or two semesters in Germany without obtaining a Double Degree Diploma, the International Business programme offers as well an interesting study programme with the majority of courses taught in English.
Foreign students have access to all campus facilities and are assisted by the International Office in all matters of enrolment, housing and visas. Their website contains general information for all incoming international students, from application forms to health insurance matters.

Types of Exchange
Double Degree ProgramThe Double Degree program is only available to students nominated by one of our specified double degree partner universities. At the end of 4 years of study, successful graduates will obtain BA Diploma of FH Dortmund and the degree from their home university. The Double Degree program is offered either in German or in English and comprises the following parts: One full year (2 semesters = 60 ECTS credits) of study on the IB program of FH Dortmund and 20 weeks of internship.Check the course catalogues “German Track" and "English Track” for more details about the two options. |
Full Year ExchangeExchange students have to be nominated by one of our partner universities. They can either spend two semesters of study at FH Dortmund or decide for one semester of study in combination with a voluntary six month internship in Germany.The internship has to be in compliance with the regulations of the home institution. FH-Dortmund does not award any ECTS-Credits for the internship. At FH Dortmund, international students shall follow a course of study which represents 30 ECTS credits per semester. They can choose from the classes available during their chosen study period in accordance with the academic requirements of their home university. FH Dortmund offers a variety of English courses. Application and Enrolment

Housing and monthly costs
It is possible to make an application for rooms in halls of residence to the Studentenwerk Dortmund via the International Office.
The below mentioned costs are estimated and cannot be taken as binding. The accommodation costs refer to the price for a room in a dormitory/ student hostel in Dortmund.

Personal requirements /health insurance / living costs | approx. € 500,00 per month |
Semester fee* | approx. € 315,00 for one semester |
*This fee is not a tuition fee, but rather a contribution towards our social facilities and benefits. Holder of our student identity card are entitled to budget-priced meals in the canteens and to free public transport with buses, local trains and tramways in the common North Rhine-Westphalia-Area.
Faculty Exchange Point
The Faculty Exchange Point is run by faculty students wanting to help you to make the most of your stay in Dortmund.
They can provide information on lectures, faculty staff, procedures und regulations with regard to the study programmes and the faculty, housing and accommodation, etc.
For opening hours of the Office please consult the notice on the door.
The times mentioned are valid for the lecture period only and may vary from semester to semester. You can, of course, always make an appointment by phone or email, if you need to speak to someone urgently or outside the office hours.

together with a part of the Dortmund Technical University are located in the
North Campus on the Emil-Figge-Street in Dortmund.
