Master urban development
The Master course urban development NRW of the Universität Siegen and the Fachhochschulen Bochum, Dortmund, Köln, is a two year course that enables talented graduates to gain access to the occupational field  Urban Planning and Development.

The course builds upon the experiences of the international construction exhibition IBA Emscher Park in dealing with the structural change in North Rine-Westphali. The focal point of the course is the development of sustainable solutions for the further development of towns and communities in our highly industrialized and densely populated region. For this purpose, basics, objectives and instruments in theory and practice of urban construction are covered.

Expert knowledge
17 professors of the disciplines urban construction, urban and regional planning, urban sociology, landscaping, architecture, environmental and traffic planning present a unique concentration of expert knowledge and experience in education for your intensive education..

Practical experience orientation
Three practical relevant design modules will prepare you in the first semesters for the wide spectrum of current and future duties in urban planning.

Compact attendance days
Lectures, seminars and practices usually take place full-time on Thursdays and Fridays during the semester. The compact attendance days are supposed to enable the contact with the praxis also parallel to the studies. During the semester, two compact design weeks also take place.

Qualified degree
The degree "Master of Science" qualifies for the entry in the town planner list, for a doctoral study at a European University as well as for a higher career as public official.

Career entry
Through the cooperation with towns and communities, participating institutions and independent planning agencies the master course early on builds a country-wide network that is supposed to facilitate the subsequent career entry.

Central study location
The cooperating colleges Universität Siegen and the Fachhochschulen Bochum, Dortmund and Köln offer the course at a central, well equipped study location at the Fachhochschule Bochum. Study requirements
