International

International experience is becoming increasingly important in a globally interconnected world and, especially in architecture, discourses are conducted globally and developments are advanced through international cooperation and exchange.

For students, the eight-semester Bachelor's program at the Department of Architecture therefore allows for a semester/year abroad or an internship. In the new bachelor study regulations from 2014, this is even better integrated into the curriculum through a mobility window in the 5th semester. We recommend a stay abroad starting in the 5th semester.

The international exchange of teaching staff and other groups of employees is also important to us in order to get to know new perspectives and to initiate constructive processes of change and cooperation.

It is advisable to start planning for longer stays abroad one to one and a half years before the stay in order to make a well-founded choice in terms of content, to use all options for financial support and to be able to make all necessary arrangements in the department, in the International Office of the FH and, if necessary, in the BAFÖG office or for language certificates.

In addition to studying abroad and doing an internship abroad, there are other ways to gain international experience during your studies.

The following formats can be mentioned as examples:

  • Summer / Spring / Winter Schools
  • Theses abroad
  • Language courses / programs abroad
  • Graduate programs, e.g. internships after graduation or between BA and MA
  • Conference visits
  • Excursions
