Applied Social Sciences Department

Social work is a service that supports people in their efforts to shape their own lives and to overcome the hardships that they encounter over the course of their lives. Social work is concerned with theory and practice, especially related to problems of social discrimination that affect individuals and groups in society. It asks about conditions that result in distress, and contemplates the question of how those conditions, both individual and societal, that put people in economic and psychosocial need, can be overcome. In addition, from a preventive perspective, it considers how they may anticipated and stopped before they start. The program of study qualifies you to develop scientifically grounded professional competencies to accomplish the tasks of analyzing individual and societal problems and contribute to their resolution.
