Information and electrical engineers are in play when the subject is an airbag in the car, or rain sensors for the comvertible, light sensors for automatically turning on and off headlights in an automobile, the automatic phasing of traffic lights, game consoles, mobile telephones, MP3-Players, the Internet, GPS navigation systems, obtaining energy from the sun or the wind, and much more! Every one of these systems is based upon a range of technologies, but each one of them involves microelectronics, signal processing and software. Without information and electrical engineers who can bring to bear the appropriate kinds of specialized knowledge and greatly contribute to these efforts, none of this would be possible.
