  • Business Studies

You are interested in studying one or two semesters at DUASA in Dortmund? Then have a look at the details about the application process and other things to be thought of:

Application

The first step is to hand in the student application form and a learning agreement form to the ERASMUS Institutional Coordinator of DUASA in the International Office together with the registration form for a dormitory room. Please bear in mind that the coordinator at your university has to sign your application as well as you sign the form! Finally you will get a letter of confirmation from DUASA and other useful information to your home address.

Deadlines for application at FH Dortmund with all above mentioned documents are:

Winter semester
(September 1 to February 28)
 June 01
Summer semester
(March 1 to August 31)
December 01

Please note:
We will not accept incomplete applications and those we received later than above mentioned deadlines!

Academic schedule

The academic year starts at mid of September (orientation days International Office) and ends at mid of July. The winter semester starts in September, the summer semester in March; with semester holidays of three weeks in February.

Both semester together comprise about 30 weeks of lectures, thus 15 weeks per semester. Christmas holidays last about 3 weeks, Easter holidays one week. Summer break last from mid of July to mid of September. The official course times will be announced by the different faculties on their websites.

Health insurance

For the admission at DUASA you need to hand in a copy of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). If you should not have the EHIC you need to show a letter of confirmation from a German health insurance (e.g. AOK, BEK, TK) that your insurance is valid in Germany.

Bank account

If you rent a room in a student residence you have to open a bank account in Germany as the rent is collected from there every month. You need a residential address in Dortmund, your national identity card and a certificate from the DUASA.

For European students opening a bank account is at no charge.

Seminar list

As almost every seminar is taught in German you should have at least basic knowledge of the German language.

Often it is not possible to make a list of all seminars in advance as most of the faculties publishes their seminar list at the beginning of the semester.

You will meet a coordinator at the faculty for questions concerning seminars, projects, and credits. You will get the name of the person in charge from the International Office.

If you want to add or delete a chosen seminar in the learning agreement please use the additional form for changes.

The date for the start of lessons at the faculty you will get on its webpage.

At the end ...

At the end of your study abroad your home university will ask for documents to proof your stay at DUASA. Please ask the ERASMUS coordinator at your home university which forms you need.

You can also use the DUASA Letter of Confirmation form.
